Trump says US likely “passed the peak” of new coronavirus cases

This Wednesday, Donald Trump said that the United States has probably “passed the peak” of new cases of coronavirus.

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the United States has likely “passed the peak” of newly identified cases of coronavirus, adding that these “encouraging advances” would allow him to unveil guidelines on Thursday to reopen the economy.

“The battle continues but the data suggests that we have passed the peak of new cases across the country,” the US president said during his daily press conference, while the United States recorded 27,850 and more deaths of 630,000 cases, according to Johns Hopkins University. “It is obvious that our aggressive strategy is working,” he added. “These encouraging advances have put us in a very solid position to finalize guidelines for states to reopen the country,” said Donald Trump, adding that he would present them on Thursday.

He said some states could reopen before May 1, depending on their epidemic trajectory.
