(CNN Spanish) – The President of United StatesDonald Trump assured that Venezuela is experiencing a “very interesting” moment and that the United States has that country “surrounded”.
“We have him surrounded at a level that nobody knows, but they know,” Trump said during a conference call with members of the Hispanic community in the United States.
Without giving more details, the president said that “something will happen, because we are not going to bear it.” He also added that his government has been tough on Venezuela when it comes to oil and sanctions.
CNN is trying to get a reaction from the government of the questioned President Nicolás Maduro.
These statements come amid the usual tensions between the two countries.
In early May, the Maduro government claimed that it had defeated an attempted invasion through the coasts of the Venezuelan central coast and held the United States and Colombia to lead the initiative. Washington and Bogotá denied such allegations.
A few days ago, the Trump government announced that it is considering retaliating against Iran for fuel shipments to Venezuela.
