The Republican candidate for White Housethe former president Donald Trump (2017-2021), suggested this Thursday night that the former conservative congresswoman Liz Cheney should face a firing squad for his foreign policy positions.
Cheney and her father, the former Republican vice president Dick Cheney (2001-2009), announced their vote for the Democratic candidate, Kamala Harrisconfronting Trump and the party apparatus.
«He is a radical war hawk. Let’s put her there with a rifle and nine barrels pointed at her, okay? Let’s see how he feels about it, with the guns pointed right at his face.”Trump said at an event in Arizona.
Cheney, whom Trump also called “a very stupid person,” has been campaigning for Vice President Harris.
“This is how dictators destroy free countries: they threaten with death those who speak against them”said the former congresswoman on the social network X.
“We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a mean, vengeful, cruel and unstable man who aspires to be a tyrant”he added.
Trump’s statements come in the middle of a campaign in which the former president has also suggested using military forces to confront the “internal enemy,” alluding to some of his political rivals.
Cheney, who became number 3 among the Republicans in the House of Representatives, was one of the few who dared to stand up to Trump during his mandate, something that cost her her congressional position and ostracism within the party. EFE (I)
