Flynn confessed in 2017 that he lied to the FBI about his dealings with the Russian ambassador to the US in the weeks before Trump’s tenure began. Since then he has tried to retract his confession of guilt. According to Flynn, prosecutors violated his rights and tricked him into plotting guilt in exchange for a reduced sentence.
Witness affected
Trump previously used his presidential authority to pardon employee Roger Stone. Among other things, Stone had been convicted of making false statements to a Congressional committee and of attempting to influence a witness.
