(CNN) — Federal prosecutors have issued a subpoena to the Trump Organization for information on business deals in foreign countries, according to two sources familiar with the investigation.
One source suggested that investigators appear to be focusing on former President Donald Trump’s business dealings in countries that may have been interested in the kinds of classified documents that were retrieved from Trump after he left office.
The New York Times was first to report on the subpoena, citing sources familiar with the matter that investigators “sought information about Trump Organization real estate licenses and development dealings in China, France, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman.”
The newspaper reported that the subpoena sought records of deals reached since 2017, when Trump became president.
It is not known exactly when the summons was issued against the Trump Organization.
