Trump ordered to provide more information to the New York Attorney General’s Office

The judge of the State of New York, Arthur Engoron, has ordered this Friday one of the companies that is in charge of the tax advice of the former president of the United States Donald Trump to deliver more documentation to the New York Attorney General’s Office than investigate the tycoon’s companies, according to Europa Press.

Trump and the company Morgan, Lewis & Bockius had shielded that the communications between them were about legal advice and, therefore, protected by the secret between lawyer and client, something with which the judge has disagreed, since he has considered that many documents requested by the Prosecutor’s Office should not be considered “privileged”.

Now, the company has until February 4 to deliver the documentation to the office of the New York Attorney General, Letitia James, according to CNN.

James has been investigating the Trump corporation since, in 2019, former President Michael Cohen’s former attorney declared that he inflated the price of their assets in the balance sheets to get access to loans in better conditions while lowering the price of some properties to pay less taxes.

During the last weeks of his presidency, there was speculation that Trump could go so far as to pardon himself as a preventive measure against the outcome of James’s investigation.
