The team of former US President Donald Trump on Thursday, July 1, quietly launched a new social network called Gettr, reports Politico.
According to the publication, the application should become an alternative to social networks owned by large tech companies.
The platform’s description states that its mission is “to fight the culture of abolition, promote common sense, defend free speech, fight monopolies on social media and create a real market for ideas.”
The development of the social network is led by former Trump representative Jason Miller.
According to someone familiar with the application, it is very similar to Twitter. The publication suggests that the new social network should become the very platform through which Trump will communicate online with supporters.
