Trump is suing Watergate journalist Bob Woodward

Woodward, the man best known for exposing the Watergate scandal that overthrew then-President Richard Nixon, in 2020 published the biography “Rage” about Trump.

Trump claims Woodward has broken promises not to publish the recordings of the interviews he did while working on the book, court documents from a Florida court show, according to NBC News.

It concerns the release of the audio book “The Trump Tapes: Bob Woodward’s Twenty Interviews with president Donald Trump”, which was published in October. Trump is asking for almost 50 million dollars, just over 500 million kroner, in compensation.

The ex-president says that he only gave his consent to audio recordings being made in the work on the biography “Rage”.

– Woodward decided to exploit, steal and capitalize on President Trump’s voice by releasing the audio recordings from the interviews in the form of an audio book, the lawsuit states.

Woodward conducted a series of interviews with Trump from December 2019 to July 2020 at the White House, his Mar-a-Lago residence and over the phone. Among other things, there were strong reactions when Trump acknowledged in excerpts from the book how dangerous the corona pandemic was, while at the same time publicly underplaying it.

Trump said at the time that covid-19 is a dangerous disease, also for people other than the elderly, but that he played it down to “not create panic”.
