Trump is ‘not happy with China’ and surprised by the demand for disinfectant

Until last week, President Trump gave a press conference every day. But when his statement about disinfectant injection last week was heavily criticized, he decided to interrupt daily press conferences for the time being.

Today, Trump reappeared in the White House rose garden for another press conference.

Compensation of China

During the press conference, the president said “not to be happy with China.” He believes that the coronavirus could have been stopped at the source. “Maybe it was inability, maybe it was something else. We’re going to figure that out,” Trump said.

Trump also spoke about possible financial compensation from China. “Germany is talking about 130 billion euros. With us, the damage is much higher, you can count on it.”

The comment about disinfectant was also discussed during the press conference. According to the governors of the U.S. states of Michigan and Maryland, health services have received many calls about injecting disinfectant in recent days.

‘I have no idea’

When a reporter asked the president at the press conference about a reason for all those calls, Trump responded, “I don’t know why people call. I have no idea.” Trump says he takes “no responsibility” for people who try bleach at home.

After fierce criticism from doctors, experts and manufacturers, he said at the end of last week that the comment was ‘meant to be sarcastic’.

More testing

According to Trump, there are plans to further increase the number of corona tests in the near future. To date, 5.4 million Americans have been tested for the coronavirus.

Correspondent Erik Mouthaan noticed yesterday that the corona assistance offered by the American president appears to be party dependent. For example, Trump points to money problems that Democratic states have and prefers to support Republican states.

Party dependent support

“Can you tell if Obama had said yes, Tennessee has been hit hard by tornadoes, but it’s a Republican state. Then they should have built firmer houses,” Mouthaan compares Trump’s response. “Can you imagine Republicans’ reactions?”

Nearly 1 million infections

Yesterday, 1303 Americans died from the effects of the corona virus. That is 27 less than a day earlier. The number of infections in the country has risen to nearly 1 million. Worldwide, 3 million people are infected with the coronavirus.
