Former President Donald Trump’s senior adviser Jason Miller said Saturday that Trump is deciding how he will reappear on social media, including whether to create his own platform.
“I hope we see the president resurface on social media,” Miller told Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125.
“Whether you are joining an existing platform or creating your new platform, there are several different options and a number of different meetings that they have had on that front. Nothing is imminent in that.
When pressed for more information about Trump’s plans on social media, Miller said “all options are on the table.”
“Several things are being discussed. So stay tuned because you know he will be back on social media. We are just figuring out which route makes the most sense, ”he said.
Trump, who has been one of the most active presidents on social media, was permanently suspended from Twitter and remains indefinitely banned from Facebook following the rape of the United States Capitol on January 6. Police surveillance targeting Trump’s posts came during his presidency and intensified after the Nov. 3 elections, when the former president and his team repeatedly joined calls to independently review the integrity of the results in various state.
Other platforms such as YouTube, Instagram (which is owned by Facebook) and Snapchat have also banned the former president from using their platforms.
Social media companies justified their censorship as an effort to protect themselves against violence, claiming that Trump had violated their terms of use. His move to prevent Trump from expressing his views on the platforms came after the media, lawmakers and other critics blamed the former president’s comments for inciting violence, which they said led to the protests. riots of January 6.
In the upcoming Senate impeachment trial, Trump’s team plans to defend the former president by arguing that the trial is unconstitutional and that he was exercising his First Amendment rights when he delivered a speech on January 6.
Trump had addressed a crowd in Washington DC as Congress met to count electoral college votes where he reiterated allegations of electoral irregularities and possible fraud, and his dissatisfaction with the media and various lawmakers. Before asking his supporters to “fight like hell” to be well represented in Congress, Trump urged his supporters to protest “peacefully and patriotically” on the US Capitol.
The breach in the US Capitol began before Trump finished his speech at the rally, according to a timeline compiled by The Epoch Times. As the incident escalated, Trump continued his push for peace and respect for law enforcement throughout the afternoon.
After the incident, Trump condemned “violence, lawlessness and chaos”, saying that those who “infiltrated the Capitol have desecrated the seat of American democracy.”
“This is a very, very dangerous path to take with respect to the First Amendment, which puts any passionate political speaker at risk,” David Schoen, one of the defense attorneys for Trump’s impeachment, previously said of the new round of efforts to impeach Trump.
The Justice Department and the FBI had also said they had indicted protesters who conspired to violate the United States Capitol days before the incident, a detail that challenges the argument made in many media reports that Trump’s speech January 6 was the impetus for violence. . Meanwhile, the tube bombs that were planted at the RNC and DNC headquarters on January 6 are believed to have been planted there the night before the riots, law enforcement officials said.
This week, the media began to speculate whether Trump had joined the social media website Gab after the realdonaldtrump account, which is the same name as Trump’s Twitter account, posted a copy of the letter that the Trump’s attorneys wrote to Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the House of Representatives chief impeachment manager.
Molinero denied that the account is being used by the former president. Meanwhile, Gab said in a statement on Twitter that the account was “a mirror of the POTUS tweets and statements that we have made” for years “.
“We have always been transparent about this and obviously we would let people know if the president starts using it,” Andrew Torba said in a statement on Gab.
