Donald Trump is back to his old bad self who, after Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the election race, feels threatened by Kamala Harris. The current vice president of the USA, as the polls show, will claim to the end the position in the Oval office of the White House, a fact that makes Trump throw into the battle every legitimate and unfair means according to his favorite tactics, regardless of the reactions.
“Is she Indian or is she black?”
So in a speech at the largest annual conference of black journalists in the US, in Chicago he asked in an inelegant and indecent way whether Kamala Harris is black or Indian. “Is she Indian or is she black?” Trump asked of his rival, drawing jeers from the audience. “She was Indian until now and suddenly she turned black,” he added.
Trump’s remarks in front of about 1,000 reporters drew a backlash with aides pulling him off the stage before he made further remarks. It should be noted that Kamala Harris’s father is African-American and her mother is of Indian origin.
Trump wanted in this way to accuse Harris of trying to take advantage of the fact that she comes from minorities in order to draw voters from those pools in an attempt to rally his hard-line voter base without regard for the moderate public who might judge the American elections.
“America deserves better”
Top Democrats accused Trump of making racist remarks while Kamala Harris of Texas picked up the gauntlet in response to the former US president.
“He put on the same old show, speaking with discord and disrespect. Let me say that the American people deserve better. The American people deserve a leader who tells the truth. A leader who does not respond with hostility and anger when faced with facts. We deserve a leader who understands that our differences do not divide us – they are an essential source of our strength.”
This afternoon, Donald Trump spoke to the National Association of Black Journalists.
It was the same old show.
Let me just say: The American people deserve better than Donald Trump’s divisiveness and disrespect.
