Former U.S. President Donald Trump was convinced that no Republican legislator would be able to beat him if he ended up in the 2024 US presidential primary.
The Hill, an American political media outlet, quoted an interview between former President Trump and Newsmax, a right-wing journalist, released on the 1st (local time) and said:
Former President Trump told Newsmax, “If I decide to do that (run for the 2024 primary), I can’t imagine (losing).”
“I have done a good job for this party,” he said. “We have the greatest economy in history, and we have (economy) rebuilt. The foundation is so strong that no country can compete with us.” Former President Trump added, “I am not sure that anyone other than us will be able to win if we only look at our ability to perform our duties.” The Hill analyzed that when Trump gave a speech at the CPAC for the first time since his retirement on the 28th, he had an opportunity to criticize former President Joe Biden and internal Republican critics. The Hill analyzed that the remarks of former President Trump came as the Republican Party discovered that the pro-Trump direction was divided between those who wanted to continue and those who wanted to get out of the grip of the former president.
Prior to his speech, former President Trump said he had won the CPAC unofficial poll. Former President Trump said 55% of respondents would elect themselves in the 2024 presidential Republican virtual contest. Governor Ron Desantis Floda and South Dakota Governor Christy Noem won 21% and 4%, respectively.
Excluding former President Trump, Governor Desantis took the lead with 43% of the support. It was 11% of NoM. Donald Trump Jr. 8%, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Ted Cruz 7%.
