Washington: The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, the casino empire of former US President Donald Trump, has been demolished in New Jersey. In 2009, Trump lost a building that had stood tall for decades on the Atlantic coast. The hotel and casino were built in 1984 by Trump, a well – known entrepreneur in the real estate industry before arriving at the White House. A quarter of a century later, the ownership of the paper was abandoned.
The building collapsed in a matter of seconds after a series of explosions using dynamite bombs. 3,000 dynamites were used. Crowds of onlookers clapped as the dust covered the area for a long time. New Jersey is an American city known for gambling, with beautiful beaches and sidewalks. Many of these buildings were named after Trump. It has been closed since 2014.
The building, which had been lying idle for years, sank to the ground within seven seconds. The incident took place around 9 am. Hundreds of people waited in the area, both in vehicles and not, to see the sight. People also enjoyed paying $ 10 for a ticket to a closer look.
Trump, who has been impeached twice for the first time in US history, recently left the White House after losing power. In addition to gambling, the casino, part of the Trump Plaza Hotel, also hosted heavyweight boxing matches.
Until 2014, the building had Trump’s name on it. Billionaire investor Carl C. Jean owned the building in 2016. Parts of the building were in danger of collapsing as repairs failed. The Atlantic City mayor announced last June that the building would be demolished.
In 2014, Trump filed a lawsuit seeking to have his name removed from the roof of the building. The move was seen as a disgrace if the name still lay on top of the unusable building. Here alone, Trump owns four other casinos. The city closed the Trump World’s Fair in 1999, the Trump Marina in 2011 and the Taj Mahal in 2016. The remaining Trump Entertainment filed bankruptcies in 2004, 2009, and 2019, but did not proceed.
