Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is still undecided after last night’s debate against Democrat Kamala Harris whether he wants a second round. “I’m not inclined to do that, because I won this debate by a wide margin,” he said in an interview on Fox News.
Harris’ team challenged Trump to a second televised debate soon after the ABC News broadcast. Trump responded almost immediately that he had “no problem” with that. He sees the offer as proof that he “won” the debate, because “losers always ask for a rematch.”
American media think differently about this. CNN viewers point to Harris as the winner of the debate and the political analyst of the pro-Trump Fox News also calls it “pretty clear” that the vice president came out better in the debate than Trump. Republicans also tell The New York Times that their party colleague did worse than Harris.
Trump also complained about the ABC News hosts during the Fox News interview. He had already claimed, without evidence, that they were more on the side of the Democrats and wanted to portray him in a bad light. “It was a set-up, as I thought, because they were correcting me on everything and not her.”
CNN counted thirty falsehoods from Trump and one from Harris during the debate. According to NBC News, the former Republican president also had more speaking time than Harris.
