CNN reported on the 21st that a bill for impeachment by former President Donald Trump, passed in the US House of Representatives on charges of inciting civil war, could be sent to the Senate as early as the 22nd.
CNN, citing two sources, said the Democratic Party of the House of Representatives is discussing a plan to send Trump’s impeachment bill to the Senate on the 22nd, two days after President Joe Biden took office.
US political media Politico also quoted lawmakers and aides, saying it could be as early as the 22nd, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expected to send the impeachment bill to the Senate within a few days.
However, Chairman Pelosi did not give a definite answer as to the timing of the transmission at the conference.
“We’ve been told they’re ready to receive it, and the question is how to proceed with the impeachment trial,” Pelosi said. “I won’t tell you when.”
