Washington: President Donald Trump has extended immigration and work visa restrictions to the United States. The regulation has been extended until March 2021.
In April and June 2020, Trump suspended immigration and work visas in a bid to protect American workers. This was until December 31st. The regulation has now been extended to March 31, 2021, in the event that it expires.
H1B visas, on which Indians rely heavily, are also restricted. However, the order does not affect H1B visa holders currently in the United States or those in other visa categories.
Trump will step down as president on January 20. New President Joe Biden has taken a stand against Trump’s immigrant visa restrictions. But he has not yet clarified whether the visa ban will be lifted if he takes office.
