Trump demands action in Capitol Hill against “autonomous zone” | Abroad

The police hardly show up there anymore. The activists have blocked roads and are delighted to call it a police-free zone.

Trump argues that “left-radical governor Jay lnslee and left-radical mayor Jenny Durkan” should immediately recapture the zone from “nasty anarchists.” Otherwise, he will take measures to do that himself.

Durkan responded quickly to Trump’s threat. He said he had better stay “in his bunker” to keep Seattle safe. Inslee said his state can handle this better than a president who “cannot govern.”

Police give up office

On Tuesday, hundreds of protesters stormed Seattle City Hall and demanded Durkan’s resignation if she did not dismantle the police. A local police union spokesman told US media that the situation is no longer under control. The police have assured residents that calls are still being answered via the emergency number 911.

Deputy Chief of Police Deanna Nolette said the police, who have given up an agency in the “Autonomous Zone” after riots and threats, want to speak to protesters to normalize the situation in the district. She previously complained that there are armed people around the zone near barricades.
