Elon Musk seems to be stepping on the Trump team’s toes after the US election. His constant presence and behavior cause displeasure.
Mar-a-Lago – Elon Musk annoying. At least that’s what two anonymous sources report, according to the US television station NBCwho are involved in the preparations for Donald Trump‘s second term and who spent time last week at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s residence in Palm Beach, Florida. Accordingly, Trump’s transition team feels like Musk has stepped on their toes because he is said to have been in the department for “too long.”
President-elect Trump recently announced that he would appoint Musk, along with Vivek Ramaswamy, to lead the newly created “Department of Government Efficiency.” This announcement highlighted the close relationship between Musk and Trump.

Trump team: Musk crosses borders
The sources reported loudly NBCthat Musk’s near-constant presence at Mar-a-Lago in the week since election day has begun to wear on people who have been in Trump’s inner circle longer than the tech billionaire. They are of the opinion that Musk is overstepping boundaries.
“He acts like he’s a co-president and makes sure everyone knows that,” one of the people said. “And he certainly takes a lot of the credit for the president’s victory. He brags about America PAC and X to anyone who will listen. He tries to make President Trump feel like he owes him something. And the president is indebted to no one,” this person added loudly NBC added.

Musk traveled to Mar-a-Lago to watch the election results and spent most of last week there, the two sources said. He is there at any time of the day or night, sits with Trump and takes part in phone calls and meetings. Musk was involved in sensitive conversations even before his role in the government was announced. Last week he was briefly involved in a phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Musk has “an opinion on everything and everyone” and shares it so forcefully that he has started harassing Trump insiders, reports NBC. “He wants to give the impression that he has a say in everything – even if he doesn’t,” said a source.
Musk’s involvement is overly aggressive – and could damage Trump’s reputation in the long term
Sea NBC Some Trump advisers expressed concern that Musk didn’t understand one key to success in Trump’s world: staying in the background. Musk’s involvement was overly aggressive and could damage his reputation in the long run, the source said.
The source also said Musk appeared to be pushing his own agenda rather than focusing on Trump’s. They said that while Musk is clearly a smart and capable person, the transition of power is about ensuring that those loyal to Trump are also the ones implementing government policies.
Trump: “Elon won’t go home. I can’t get rid of him.”
At a meeting with House Republicans on November 13, Trump spoke fondly of Musk and praised him for his time and efforts on the campaign, according to two lawmakers in attendance. Trump joked about Musk’s continued presence in his circle, saying: “Elon is not going home. I can’t get rid of him.”
Musk is one of Trump’s most active supporters. His Super PAC spent more than $152 million to elect Trump and other Republican candidates, with much of the money coming from Musk himself. He held pro-Trump rallies in the swing state of Pennsylvania, handed out $1 million in freebies daily to registered voters and turned his social media app X into a pro-Trump megaphone.
Relationship between Musk and Trump rocky
The relationship between Musk and Trump has been rocky over the years, despite their recent alliance. Musk said in 2022 that Trump should “hang up his hat and sail off into the sunset,” to which Trump fired back at the time that Musk was “worthless” without government subsidies.
One can only speculate about the long-term viability of the relationship – but given the ambitions and personalities of both men, there are quite a few people who predict a falling out. (sot)
