Former US President Donald Trump has accused the House of Representatives Committee of Inquiry into the Capitol attack of trying to prevent him from running in the upcoming 2024 presidential election by recommending the Justice Department to file “false accusations” against he.
Trump said in a post on his social networking platform, ‘Truth Social,’ that “all of these actions aimed at prosecuting me are similar to the impeachment process, a partisan attempt to exclude me, me and the Republican Party” from the upcoming presidential election .

The committee also voted to approve its final report on the January 2021 events when Trump supporters stormed the Capitol as they certified that his rival, Joe Biden, had won the election.
On Monday, the committee said it had recommended that Trump be prosecuted on charges of obstructing an official proceeding, conspiring against the government, making false statements and aiding an insurgency, according to CNN.
The final report will not be made public until Wednesday.
Republican Representative Liz Cheney, vice chair of the committee, said in her opening statement that Trump “does not have the capacity to hold public office,” adding, “A man who has done this can never again hold any position of public office.” authority in our nation,” according to reports from the network. Cnn”.
The congressman believed that Trump’s refusal to take immediate action to prevent these events renders him “incompetent to hold any official office”.
Committee chairman Democrat Rep. Benny Thompson said in his opening statement that the future of democracy rests in the hands of the American people, “and it’s up to the people of this country to decide who deserves the public’s trust. Who will put the loyalty to the Constitution and to democracy above all else. Who will respect the rule of law.”
And “CNN” quoted Thompson as saying the committee will pass its final report at the meeting, but it won’t be released until Wednesday.
The head of the committee told the network that the criminal votes would be sent to the Justice Ministry “shortly after we conclude our business today.”
The commission’s vote is not binding and it is up to the Justice Department, which has appointed a prosecutor to independently investigate, decide whether to prosecute the former president.
