US President Donald Trump, who has spoken out on the November presidential election method, corrected Wednesday’s controversial statements on Thursday when he suggested to supporters to vote twice, prompting protest reactions.

In a long series of tweets released today, Trump tried to rectify his statements on Wednesday, saying he intended to urge voters to verify that their vote had been registered.

In response, North Carolina Electoral Bureau director Karen Brinson Bell recalled that “it is illegal to vote twice during an election”. Bernie Sanders, the former Democratic presidential candidate, vigorously denounced the statements by the head of state.
“For years, Donald Trump lied about ‘electoral fraud’. Today, he calls on the people of North Carolina to commit an offense by voting twice,” he rebelled. “This President does not believe in democracy. He is an authoritarian who must be defeated,” he added.
