In 2018, here during a visit to Singapore, the then US President Donald Trump was the focus of interest.

A birthday cake was baked for Trump, he blows out the candle. But this year, on his 75th birthday, he apparently has little reason to celebrate.

Trump spends the birthday with accusations and criticism. Maybe Hindus in India remembered him again this year, who smeared his photo with cake and vermilion paste on their foreheads in 2’17. That should bring luck.

Although Twitter has banned the former US President Donald Trump from its platform, “Happy Birthday Donald Trump” trended on Monday, Trump’s 75th birthday, on the short message service in the USA. But instead of celebrating his birthday, the ex-president spent most of it with moody tirades against opponents and appeals for donations.
–
Among the well-wishers was Trump’s former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (57). Born coincidentally on Flag Day, the day on which the American flag is particularly honored, Pompeo congratulated him with a picture of the flag and the words: “It has been an honor to serve by your side and America first Place to put. May we never give up making America great. “

Not a happy birthday
But the 75th birthday did not seem to bring much joy to the former US president. Trump started the day in advance with new allegations of election fraud and criticism of NATO and the G7. In a statement on Monday, he wrote that in the past the USA had “given so much money” to the “Club” – meaning the G7 format – and that NATO had “given away” it. The USA had been “exploited economically” for years by the countries concerned.
–
“It’s not fair to America or the American taxpayer!” declared the right-wing populist. But he changed that during his tenure. Trump had repeatedly accused the NATO partners in the past of not spending enough on their defense and of allowing themselves to be put up with by the USA.
–
The declaration of the ex-president was published on the day of the NATO summit in Brussels, which his successor Joe Biden (78) attended. In the previous days, Biden had also attended the G7 summit in Great Britain.

The old story of electoral fraud
On his 75th birthday, Trump also repeated his unsubstantiated allegations of massive election fraud in the November 3 presidential election, which he lost to Biden. The Republican issued a statement calling for a review of the votes cast in the state of Pennsylvania and attacking two party friends who have spoken out against it.
–
A highly controversial vote review commissioned by the Republicans is currently underway in the state of Arizona. Critics accuse Trump and his party of wanting to fuel the conspiracy theory of alleged electoral fraud and to further undermine confidence in the electoral system.
–
Trump was defeated by Biden in Arizona and Pennsylvania in November, both states were part of the election. The ex-president does not admit his defeat to this day. The 75-year-old continues to set the tone with the Republicans, enjoys great popularity with the grassroots and has repeatedly flirted openly with a renewed presidential candidacy in 2024.

Birthday cards to raise funds
Trump also used his birthday to collect political donations. Followers were called in e-mails and short messages to put themselves on a birthday card and donate money. (kes / AFP)
