For the first time in the history of the American republic, a former president will have to defend himself in court against criminal charges. The indictment against Donald Trump is still under lock and key in the state of New York; at its core, however, it probably revolves around hush money payments to an alleged mistress.
The former American president is now officially criminally charged.
He was caught on the wrong foot. But Donald Trump quickly recovered on Thursday after his attorney Susan Necheles was informed that a grand jury in the Manhattan borough of New York had approved indictment of the ex-president late in the afternoon (local time).
