Trump backs Bolsonaro after the investigative commission approved a report accusing him of nine crimes in his management of the pandemic

This Tuesday, the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, delivered through a statement its support to the Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro, after the Parliamentary Investigation Commission (CPI) on the management of the pandemic in Brazil today approved the final report in which the Head of State is accused of nine crimes, including “crimes against humanity.”

Trump’s brief, under the title ‘Backing up by Jair Bolsonaro’ it was published minutes after the resolution of the Brazilian committee, established in the Senate. It ensures that the South American president “will never disappoint” his country, according to the Brazilian affiliate of the US chain CNN.

“President Jair Bolsonaro and I have become great friends in recent years. He fights hard and loves the people of Brazil, just like I do for the people of the United States. Brazil is lucky to have a man like Jair Bolsonaro working for them He is a great president and he will never let the people of his country down!”, expresó Trump.

The statement of the former president of the United States was disseminated via email, since Trump cannot use the main social networks after being expelled from these for spreading false news.

For a total of seven votes in favor and four against, this Tuesday the ICC gave the green light to the report that was prepared by the commission’s main rapporteur, Senator Renan Calheiros, according to the Brazilian media G1.

The approval of the report, with which the Commission concludes six months of work, implies the request for the imputation of a total of 78 people, including Bolsonaro and two companies for different crimes committed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In this way, the report will now be sent to the Supreme court, the Brazilian Prosecutor’s Office and to International Criminal Court in The Hague, so that the requests are valued.
