– Former US President Donald Trump, who overcame the impeachment crisis and resumed political activities, met another hurdle. This time it is the prosecution. New York’s Manhattan District Prosecutor’s Office, who is looking into the Trump Group’s fiscal fraud case, has recently set out to target Trump’s close friend and “the safeguard”.

According to the Washington Post (WP) on the 4th (local time), the Manhattan District Attorney General Cyrus Vance recently started an investigation into the Trump Group’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Alan Wisselberg. First of all, he summoned referees who knew Wisselberg well and asked for a wide range of details, from the details of his duties to his family relations.

Wisselberg is the person in charge of the Trump Group’s financial transactions. He sometimes describes himself as “Trump’s eyes and ears from an economic point of view.” One of his two sons works as a property manager for the Trump Group, and the other works for the Trump Group’s lender, Ladder Capital.

In 2016, the Manhattan District Prosecutor’s Office was investigating allegations that the Trump Group’s funds went into silence to former pornographic actors who alleged an extramarital relationship with Trump. Recently, it has also been revealed that the Trump Group has secured a large amount of past tax payments.

Local media estimates that the final destination of the investigation will be the former President of Trump. Trump’s investigation into Wisselberg, a close friend, could be seen as a paving stone to mobilize cooperation to prove the allegations.

NYT observed that “if Wisselberg, who has been a vault guard for the Trump Group for over 20 years, cooperates with the investigation, key information will be available.”
