Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who is undergoing a civil trial in New York State on suspicion of fraud, once again objected to the court’s gag order.

According to Reuters on the 4th (local time), former President Trump recently submitted an application to the New York State Supreme Court to appeal the appeals court’s decision to restore the silence order. The gag order that former President Trump took issue with is an order from the Manhattan District Court not to criticize court officials in connection with civil trials.

Former President Trump, who was accused of manipulating the asset value of his family’s Trump Organization, continued to attack not only the New York State prosecutor who filed the lawsuit, but also the staff of the Manhattan District Court where the trial was held. The court staff also had ties to the Democratic Party, and the intention was to proceed with the trial unfavorably to former President Trump for political purposes.

In response, the Manhattan District Court banned former President Trump from publicly speaking or posting about court officials in early October.

Former President Trump did not properly follow the silence order and was ordered by the court to pay a fine of $15,000 (about 20 million won).

Afterwards, former President Trump sought the judgment of the appeals court, saying that the silence order was unfair, but the appeals court also sided with the Manhattan District Court, saying that the silence order was necessary. However, Trump’s position is that he cannot accept the appellate court’s decision.

Former President Trump’s lawyer argued that “banning even expressing concerns about the partisan behavior of court employees violates former President Trump’s constitutional rights,” and added, “It also violates the federal Constitution and the New York State Constitution.”

One of the reasons behind Trump’s reckless action is that he continues to lead the race for the Republican presidential nomination, and a second preference survey showed that Governor Ron DeSantis is ahead. Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley is gaining attention as she is on the rise ahead of the presidential primary that begins in Iowa on the 15th of next month, but some interpret that there may be limits to expanding support within the party.

According to a poll conducted by the American broadcaster News Nation on 3,200 registered voters on the 26th and 27th of last month ahead of the fourth debate of Republican presidential candidates on the 6th and released on the same day, 60% of Republican supporters supported former President Trump as the presidential candidate. This was followed by Governor DeSantis (10.8%), former Ambassador Haley (10.1%), candidate Vivek Ramaswamy (6.2%), and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (3.4%).

In a survey that excluded the first-choice candidate and asked which candidate they supported as second-choice, Governor DeSantis received the highest support at 36.2%. This was followed by candidate Ramaswami (14.9%), former Ambassador Haley (13.5%), and former President Trump (11.1%). This is a worrying finding for former Ambassador Haley, who has been rising in opinion polls recently with support from traditional Republicans, NewsNation said.

News Nation contributor Nick Mulvaney said, “It is a battle between traditional Republican supporters and populist Republican supporters, but the group of populist supporters appears to be much larger.”

Previously, in a survey conducted by Harris Former Ambassador Haley received only 13%. In a survey asking first preference, former President Trump won 68%, overwhelming Governor DeSantis (8%) and former Ambassador Haley (7%).
