A new attack against Donald Trump seems to have been foiled by the authorities in a California city.
A man found in illegal possession of a shotgun and a loaded handgun was arrested in Coachella, California, where Donald Trump was scheduled to hold a campaign rally, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday.
He said deputies, who were at a checkpoint near the rally, arrested 49-year-old Vem Miller of Las Vegas as he arrived in a black SUV.
He was later booked into a local detention center on charges of possession of a loaded firearm and a large capacity magazine.
“This incident did not affect the safety of former President Trump or those attending the event,” the statement said.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately release information about the intentions of Miller, who was released on bond and faces a Jan. 2 court hearing.
There was no immediate comment from either the Trump campaign or the US Secret Service, which is tasked with protecting top officials and candidates.
