FORNEBU (Dagbladet): On Saturday, Trude Vasstrand (59) made her debut on the dance floor in “Shall we dance”. Together with her dance partner Catalin Andrei Mihu, she delivered a tango that was worth 14 judge points.
After the dance, Trude can tell Dagbladet that she hardly remembers the dance itself.
We roll the dice on the premiere
– I don’t really know what it was like, she answers questions about what it was like to get the premiere dance over.
– I was very nervous to begin with, and I felt that I was becoming a little unsteady. I started alone, but then Catalin came and then I relaxed a bit.

– Sounds cliche
Naturally present in the hall to cheer were daughter Jørgine Vasstrand (34) and son-in-law Morten Sundli.
For Jørgine, it was an emotional moment to see her mother swinging on the floor – a floor she has danced on many times herself.
After the “exit”: – Finally
– It was a powerful moment. It sounds awfully cliché, but “Shall We Dance” is full of emotion, and I know how it feels to stand there and know it’s live TV. In addition, there is my mother who is 59 years old.
– But I’m very, very, very proud, I was also super nervous that she wouldn’t get to show what I know she can do – because it’s damn frustrating.

Jørgine herself participated in last year’s “all stars” season, as well as in the 2019 season. Both times she finished in second place. She therefore knows very well what dance adventure her mother is on her way into. But jealous, she is not. At least not at Trude.
TV 2 makes changes
– I don’t get jealous of mum, I give her this 100 per cent. But I get a little jealous that someone else is dancing with Santino (Mirenna ed.anm.). It kind of stung. I feel he is mine, but he is not, Jørgine admits, to great laughter from her mother.

– He’s your stepbrother, Trude chimes in.
Santino and Jørgine are not actually step-siblings, but were dance partners last year. It was not difficult to see that the two Italians became good friends, and Santino has been seen several times with the rest of the not-so-small Vasstrand family.

– Realize my limitations
Something that was much discussed in both seasons Jørgine participated in was her competitive instinct, and not least that she did not hide the fact that she was there to win. But does mother Vasstrand have as high a competitive instinct as her daughter?

– I realize my limitations, but there is a lot of competition with myself. I want to make it as good as possible. I want to do it for Catalin, I want to do it for the family and I want to do it for me. I don’t feel like going out, so no: I don’t want to go out. I want to be here, Trude answers firmly.
– I had to be obedient
As mentioned, the 59-year-old works as a teacher in Ålesund when she is not dancing in sequined dresses. However, commuting across the country to and from dance training every day becomes a bit much.
