TRUDE, Mike and the New Elbe Tunnel: A Documentary on Hamburg’s Longest Road Tunnel

Construction of Hamburg’s new Elbe Tunnel began 55 years ago. With a length of 3.3 kilometers below the port, it was the longest road tunnel in the world in the 1970s. Today, more than 120,000 cars pass through it every day.

The NDR Documentation “TRUDE, Mike and the New Elbe Tunnel” uses game scenes and historical archive material to show the history of the construction of the building with all its challenges.
