Trucks in which children were traveling to receive a covid vaccine are stranded due to confrontation in Tamaulipas

Two trucks that are part of the anticovid-19 caravan and in which the majority of children were traveling, were stranded on the Ribereña highway, after the tires of the units were punctured due to artifacts known as “stars”, which a individual released moments before during a confrontation that he had with state agents of Tamaulipas.

The events occurred this Wednesday at 08:20 a.m. between the Díaz and Cavazos ejidos, according to information collected.

Although the Coordination Group for the Construction of Peace does not know the number of vehicles, sources close to the case indicated that it is two trucks.

The sources added that a total of 136 people were traveling, mostly minors who were going to take the first dose of the anticovid-19 vaccine.

The Tamaulipas authorities reported that the events unfolded when the state agents began the march to deter crime on the highway in response to the alert that a caravan of buses that would leave Reynosa for the Pharr International Bridge and the municipality of Camargo, in order to receive the first anticovid-19 vaccine to children under 5 years of age.
