Truck with engine burst causes traffic jam on the A3 near Rohrbrunn

At around 5:30 p.m., the police received reports of a burning truck just before the Rohrbrunn exit. Fortunately, the Aschaffenburg-Hösbach traffic police patrol was able to quickly give the all-clear. No open flames could be seen. Presumably due to the overheated cooling water, smoke developed and the engine became defective. Since the brakes were also blocked, the driver of the truck was no longer able to steer his vehicle onto the hard shoulder and partially blocked the right lane. To clean the road, two lanes had to be closed first, and then only the right-hand lane until the vehicle was towed away. Nevertheless, there was a backlog of about 5 kilometers. The police received support from the fire brigades from Waldaschaff and Weibersbrunn and the THW from Aschaffenburg.

Two injured in traffic accident, one car without registration

Aschaffenburg. A traffic accident with two injured people occurred on Friday night near Aschaffenburg. A 30-year-old from Hanau was driving a VW in the middle lane towards Würzburg around 2 a.m. For reasons that are not yet known, the vehicle swerved and collided with the outer crash barrier and an Opel that was in the right lane at the time and was occupied by a total of five people. The collision injured the man from Hesse and a 35-year-old from Bamberg from the other car. The people had to be taken to a hospital for treatment. Both vehicles were no longer drivable and were towed away. The police put the total damage at 21,000 euros. To record the accident, the police blocked the road completely for 30 minutes, after which one lane was released. The fire brigade secured the scene of the accident. During the investigation of the accident, the traffic police officers found that the Opel is currently not registered. French license plates were attached to the car, but these are currently not valid in Germany because the car was sold. The police are now investigating against the 49-year-old driver.

Follow-up accident at the end of the traffic jam with a seriously injured person

Aschaffenburg. A 48-year-old from Hesse suffered serious injuries when his car hit a truck trailer at 2:35 a.m. at the end of the traffic jam in the direction of Würzburg. The man was driving a Mercedes in the right lane and realized too late that a 32-year-old truck driver and her team were approaching the stationary traffic at walking speed. The front of the car pushed under the trailer up to the windshield and bent the drawbar of the articulated train. Luckily, the injured driver was able to free himself from his vehicle and was cared for by the truck driver and a witness until the rescue workers arrived. Inpatient treatment in a hospital is required, but there is no danger to life. The car has only scrap value, and the trailer was also significantly damaged. The police estimate the damage at at least 25,000 euros. The drawbar also left marks on the road. The right lane had to be closed for several hours. The Autobahnmeisterei Hösbach and the THW Aschaffenburg came into action.

Bessenbach. A 28-year-old from Lower Bavaria was under the influence of alcohol and was checked by the motorway police on the A3 near Bessenbach on Thursday morning. At 10:02 a.m., the young man was driving his BMW in the direction of Würzburg. A test showed a value of 0.66 per thousand. The driver now faces a fine of 500 euros and a month’s driving ban.
