The articulated vehicle of a 58-year-old Hungarian driver is said to have caught fire around 4 p.m. due to a technical defect. The truck driver fled the driver’s cab immediately after noticing the fire.
The Ansfelden, Nettingsdorf, Freindorf and Pucking fire brigades were on hand with 56 emergency services and eleven vehicles. Around 6 p.m., the fire was out. The truck driver was taken to the Sisters of Mercy hospital in Linz for a check-up.
The entire load is likely to have been destroyed by the fire, and there were temporary obstructions on the freeway.
