NEUHOFEN. Mayor Günter Engertsberger criticizes the fact that this driving ban through Neuhofen has been in place for around 15 years, but is a “toothless measure”.
In controls during this period not a single offense had been found. The reason for this is the excluded destination and source traffic. This includes, for example, the journeys to Kremsmünster. Trucks take the slightly shorter route via the main road instead of the route via the Autobahn with the Sattledt exit.
After Neuhofen as a central place is driven through almost in a star shape from all sides (Enns, Steyr, Linz and Wels are within a radius of around 26 kilometers), the heavy traffic volume of around 700 vehicles is a burden that can hardly be accepted. “A rethink in the direction of toll exemption on motorways and toll regulations on higher-level federal highways or a general truck driving ban over 7.5 tonnes would be important approaches for politics,” says Engertsberger.
