The strike escalated on Good Friday when the owner of the vehicles tried to gain access to the trucks with a group from a paid security service.
After the large-scale police operation at the Gräfenhausen motorway service area in connection with a strike action by truck drivers, the situation has since calmed down again.
The arrested Polish trucking company owner and 18 of his security staff, who tried to attack the striking drivers on Friday and were stopped by the police, have since been released, a police spokesman said.
According to the police, the roll commando was sometimes very martial, wore protective vests and is said to have tried to use force to gain access to the trucks. The walkout of the drivers at the Gräfenhausen service area (Darmstadt-Dieburg district) continued on Saturday, the police observed the situation.
The owner of the truck and his security staff are accused in various ways of serious breach of the peace, coercion, threats, attempted dangerous bodily harm and disruption of a meeting. The approximately 50 long-distance drivers from the Polish company, some of whom come from Uzbekistan, have been on strike at the service area for a few days. According to their information, some of them have not been paid their wages for months.

According to the union, the striking drivers are supported by the DGB, local clubs and boards and the diocese of Mainz. DGB and the Hessian SPD condemned the actions of the forwarding agent.
