A 40-year-old resident of the Amberg-Sulzbach district was driving his truck on Immenstetter Strasse from Raingering towards Hirschau in Amberg on Thursday at around 11 a.m. At the Raigering exit, he collided with the outside mirror of an oncoming truck in the bend, which continued driving towards Amberg without complying with its legal obligations as a party involved in the accident. The collision caused damage amounting to 1,200 euros. During the police search, the vehicle described was located in the east of the city and subjected to an inspection. During the reporting process, the 43-year-old driver was found to have a strong smell of alcohol.
A subsequent breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of over 2.20 per mille. Due to the high alcohol level, both the truck driver’s vehicle key and his driver’s license were confiscated and a blood sample was taken. The 43-year-old Amberger now faces criminal charges for endangering road traffic and leaving the scene of an accident without permission.
