KOMPAS.com – A truck carrying logistics for the 2024 Election entered a ravine in Jambu District, Semarang Regency, Central Java, Saturday (6/1/2024) at around 14.00 WIB.
The accident occurred when the truck crossed the incline and bend in the Kalimalang area, Semarang-Magelang route, Jambu District.
A resident, Siti Mutabaroh (38), said that while driving up the incline, the truck suddenly backed into the opposite lane, then hit the guardrail.
“It seemed like it couldn’t be braked, it immediately reversed and plunged (upside down) into a ravine,” he said, quoted from Tribun Jateng.
He saw the driver trying to open the door to get out of the truck, but because the incident happened quickly, the driver also fell into the ravine.
“It looks like the driver didn’t have time to jump, so he fell into the ravine,” he said.

Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Magelang Regency, Afiffuddin, said the driver was conscious. He was immediately taken to hospital.
Afiffudin said that the truck that had an accident was carrying 80 boxes of ballot papers for the 2024 Election for Magelang Regency, Electoral Districts (Dapil) I and VI.
“Those are the ballot papers for electoral districts 1 and 6 of the Magelang Regency DPRD, one box contains 500 ballot papers, so that’s 400,000,” he said.
As a result of the accident, boxes of ballot papers were scattered on the road and at the bottom of the ravine.
Residents around the location then helped remove the boxes.

Ballots were taken from the Bawen area
Afiffudin revealed that there were two trucks transporting logistics for the 2024 elections to Magelang Regency.
One truck managed to pass the Kalimalang bend, but the other truck failed. After successfully crossing the corner, the truck continued its journey towards Magelang Regency.
According to Afiffudinn, hundreds of thousands of ballot papers were taken from printing presses in Bawen District, Semarang Regency.
He admitted that he went to the printing shop in Bawen.
“When I left, I was at the printing press, then went ahead,” he said.
Before Afiffudin arrived at the office, he was informed that one of the trucks carrying ballot papers had an accident.

Originally, after the ballots arrived at the Dayengan Warehouse, officers would do a fold sorting.
“However, because of this accident, of course what is available is done first, while the printing is still the responsibility of the printer because it has not yet reached the KPU. This is a disaster,” he explained.
For today, the logistics for the 2024 Election that have arrived are the Magelang Regency DPRD ballot papers for electoral districts 2, 3, 4 and 5. For electoral districts 1 and 6 they were delayed because they were transported by a truck which was hit by an accident.

So what is the condition of the ballot papers for electoral districts 1 and 6?
Afiffudin explained that the ballot papers in the ill-fated truck were still the responsibility of the printing company.
“Later we will wait for the printing to be sent back, and currently the process of evacuating the ballot papers has not been completed because they have to be taken from a ravine to the top and taken back to the printing press and escorted by security forces,” he explained as quoted by Antara.
