An accident involving a trailer truck with a container load with an Ertiga car at the Bungah intersection, Gresik Regency, Wednesday (18/5/2022) at 12.30 WIB, caused one person to die and one person to be seriously injured.
AKP Engkos Sarkosi Kasatlantas Gresik Police on Surabaya Voice Radio said that the victim who died was the driver of the Ertiga car named Sudiono, a resident of Sembayat, Gresik Regency. Meanwhile, the victim who was seriously injured (LB) was a truck driver named Suwarno, a resident of Tuban Regency, East Java.
“At the time of the incident, the Ertiga car was crossing from the Dukun direction and the truck was from Lamongan. Both of them want to go to Gresik,” he said.
Currently, the two victims, both seriously injured and dead, are already at the nearest hospital for further treatment and treatment.
Regarding the cause of the accident, which was previously mentioned by the witness in the field because the truck had a failed brake, Kasatlantas added that his party was still investigating and processing the crime scene.
“The location is arguably blind spot (blind spot), because previously there was also an almost similar accident due to a failed brake,” he explained.
Officers have done traffic engineering to unravel the congestion caused by the accident. The Telkom cable, which previously also blocked the road because it was dragged by a truck, has also begun to be repaired.
Regarding the evaluation of this incident, Kasatlantas appealed to road users, especially when crossing the Bungah intersection, to be more vigilant. In addition, the message to transportation companies is to always check beforehand on vehicles that will carry out trips or expeditions, to reduce the risk of a similar incident occurring. (bil/ipg)
