Truck falls about 5 meters from national highway into river; man driving dies in Sumiyo-cho, Amami City[11/05 01:43]
On the 4th, a truck fell into a river beside a national highway in Amami City, killing the man driving it.
According to the Amami Police Station, at around 8:30 p.m. on the 4th, a truck with a crane attached to it fell into the river next to the national highway on National Route 58 in Yakukatsu, Sumiyo-cho, Amami City.
As a result of this accident, the man driving the Unic was taken to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead approximately two and a half hours later.
The scene was an intersection where a prefectural highway and a national highway intersect without a traffic light, and it is believed that for some reason the Unic car was unable to make a left turn at the intersection and fell into the river about 5 meters below.
Police are investigating the man’s identity and cause of death, as well as the cause of the accident.
