Citizens who visited the market were injured in this accident and were taken to the hospital, three of whom were seriously injured.

At around 12 noon today, an accident occurred near the entrance to the Moran Market in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, where a 1-ton truck rushed onto the sidewalk.
Road safety poles were torn off with stones, shattered shopware, victims’ ID cards and a pair of shoes scattered around show the shock at the time of the accident.
As the vehicle suddenly rushed, the refrigerator here was pushed back about 5 meters. There are also pieces of glass and debris scattered everywhere.
Eight people, including drivers and pedestrians, were injured, three of whom were found to be seriously injured.
Most people got angry while shopping for groceries or visiting the market for lunch.

″(When the sound was loud) I thought, “The gas exploded in that house,” and when I ran in, the car had already done so, and everyone was lying down and making a mess… ″
Immediately after the accident, the driver claimed to have “sudden acceleration” to the insurance company employee and stated that there was a problem with the vehicle.

″(The driver was screaming inside the car). (Immediately after the accident) The driver was unconscious for a moment. Because I was so shocked… ″
However, during the police investigation, the driver stated, “I was trying to slow down to make a right turn and accidentally stepped on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake.”
The police believe that the accident occurred due to the driver’s gross negligence and are investigating the case for violation of the Special Act on Traffic Accidents.
