Truce plan proposed to Hamas includes 40-day ceasefire

Riad. The British Foreign Minister, David Cameron, stated this Monday that the plan proposed to the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas for a truce in Gaza includes a forty-day ceasefire.

Cameron said in Riyadh during the World Economic Forum (WEF) that Hamas received “a very generous offer of a 40-day ceasefire, the potential release of thousands of Palestinian prisoners, in exchange for the release of hostages” held in Gaza. since the October 7 attack.

A Hamas delegation must meet this Monday in Cairo with representatives of Egypt and Qatar to respond to the latest proposal for a truce in Gaza after almost seven months of war.

“I hope that Hamas accepts this agreement and, frankly, all the pressure in the world and all the eyes in the world should be on them today to tell them to accept that agreement,” Cameron declared, adding that the proposal would lead to a “cessation of fights that we all want so much”.

Egypt, Qatar and the United States have been trying for months to mediate an agreement between Israel and Hamas.

The British Foreign Secretary stated that for there to be a “political horizon for a two-state solution”, those “responsible for October 7, the leaders of Hamas, would have to leave Gaza and the terrorist infrastructure in Gaza would have to be dismantled.” .

“You have to consider a political future for the Palestinian people, but you also have to consider security for Israel and those two things have to go together,” he added.
