Trouble and confusion on line 1 – Breisach

Passengers complain about delays and missed connections on the Freiburg-Breisach railway line.

On Wednesday there were again disruptions on the Freiburg-Breisach S-Bahn line, which caused great annoyance among passengers. Apparently several trains were affected. Stefanfein, who was waiting in Freiburg at 2:32 p.m. for the train to Breisach, wanted to use one of them. He writes to the BZ: “First comes an announcement that the train will arrive five minutes later. Ten minutes later it says it’s 15 minutes late. At 2.55 p.m. the announcement comes that the train is cancelled. At 3.03 p.m. we are informed that the train to Breisach is now waiting on platform 8. But there is a train with the inscription Titisee on which passengers with this destination are already sitting.”

Then the announcement came on the train that the train to Breisach was leaving platform 7 and that everyone should please leave the train. “Elderly people and a mother with a pram are now allowed to use the stairs to change platforms for the second time. Arriving on platform 7, there is a train with the inscription: Freiburg-Littenweiler. After a brief confusion, it turns out that it is really about the train to Breisach,” writes Stefanfein. Like him, many other passengers would have experienced chaos. The mood was aggressive. The BZ reader also describes two train cancellations in May, where the journey ended prematurely in Gottenheim or did not take place at all.

Deutsche Bahn has not yet responded to a BZ inquiry about these incidents.

A student from Breisach was also affected by train problems on Wednesday: She wanted to travel from Breisach via Gottenheim to Btzingen at 6:02 p.m. for handball training. According to the DB app, the journey was canceled, which is why she was forced to take the train at 6:32 p.m. in Breisach. But he was so late that she missed the connection to Btzingen in Gottenheim. It was therefore impossible for her to get to the training session by train – the 16-year-old gave up and took the next train back to Breisach. But he was also late, she reported to the BZ.

Stefanfein is resigned to the disturbances on the Breisgau S-Bahn: “What remains is wasted life at various stations, helplessness, anger and more and more people who switch to cars.”
