Singer Joo Hyun-mi (62), who was called the ‘Trot Queen’, opened a pharmacy in the past, but revealed the story of her failure.
On the 12th, Joo Hyun-mi appeared on TV Chosun’s current affairs and cultural program ‘Sikgaek Heo Young-man’s Alumni Travel’ and went on a food tour with MC Heo Young-man in Yeouido, Seoul.
On this day, Heo Young-man asked Joo Hyun-mi, “Aren’t you from pharmacy school?” She recalled that Joo Hyun-mi said, “That’s right,” and that “she had a really hard time studying while preparing to become a pharmacist.”
Joo Hyun-mi said that thanks to her unique background, she made her name known as a ‘pharmacist-turned-singer’ in the early days of her debut. “As soon as she graduated from college, she opened a pharmacy in Pil-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul,” he confessed.
Next, Joo Hyun-mi said about the reason for turning to singer, “I have been good at singing since I was young,” and “So my father made a record like a commemorative album, and through that I received a proposal to start singing again.”
He added, “Rather than thinking of becoming a singer right away, I thought of making a demo tape. But it was a good opportunity and I made my official debut in the music industry the following year. I received a lot of love for every song I released after that, and I’ve come this far.”
