Nicolas was downgraded from hurricane to tropical storm on Tuesday, but still causes both flood danger and power outages along the Gulf Coast in the US, according to the news agency Reuters.
According to the National Hurricane Center in the USA (NHC), tropical storm Nicholas will calm down further during Wednesday – but the danger of life-threatening floods in the southern states of Texas and Louisiana will still be a reality in the coming days.
Nicholas hit land early Thursday local time, ravaging with a wind speed of around 95 km / h, leaving around 30.5 cm of rainwater in the streets where Hurricane Harvey hit in 2017, according to the news agency AP.

Just a few weeks ago, Louisiana was hit by Hurricane Ida, which triggered a national state of emergency, killing more than 25 people and destroying large areas of the southern state.
The tropical storm is moving slowly, and is expected to leave large amounts of precipitation when it hits Texas and southern Louisiana, according to meteorologists. This area is already hard hit by the consequences of Hurricane Ida.
