Tropical Storm “Milton” forms in the Gulf of Mexico; will bring rain to these states

MEXICO CITY (apro).– The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that, at 11:25 a.m. this Saturday the 5th, tropical depression Fourteen, which is located in the Gulf of Mexico, intensified into a tropical storm “ Milton.”

In a statement, the agency indicated that “Milton” is located 355 kilometers north-northwest of Veracruz, Veracruz, and 590 kilometers west-northwest of Progreso, Yucatán.

It has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of 85 km/h, with a movement towards the north-northwest, that is, towards Florida, at 6 kilometers per hour.

Conagua, on which the National Meteorological Service (SMN) depends, estimated that the cloud bands of “Milton” will cause intense rains in Tamaulipas and Veracruz, as well as heavy rains in Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí.

It will also generate northerly winds with gusts of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour for the coasts of Tamaulipas and Veracruz.

The rains caused by “Milton” could generate landslides, an increase in the levels of rivers and streams, as well as overflows and flooding in low areas of the four mentioned states, so it was recommended to follow the instructions of Civil Protection and the warnings of Conagua. and the SMN.
