The United States National Hurricane Center reported that the maximum sustained winds of Frank it had slowed to 50 mph (85 km/h) by mid-afternoon and was moving northwest at 12 mph (19 km/h). It was located 1,380 kilometers (860 miles) west of the southern tip of the peninsula of Baja California and did not represent a threat to the mainland.
