Frank will continue to move northwestward away from the Mexican coast. Environmental conditions are favorable for Frank to strengthen to a category one hurricane over Pacific waters.
Frank and newly formed Tropical Depression 8-E are likely to get close enough to interact. Global models suggest that Frank will be the largest and most dominant system during this interaction, and that the depression will have only minor impacts on Frank’s track and intensity.
Tropical Depression 8-E
Tropical Depression 8 E has formed in the Pacific but there is much uncertainty as to how it will interact with Tropical Storm Frank. Assuming the depression remains separate, environmental conditions appear only marginally favorable for near-term intensification. It could become Tropical Storm Georgette, the seventh named storm. On average, the seventh named storm forms on August 11.
