MEXICO CITY (AP) – Tropical Storm Enrique formed in the Pacific off Mexico on Friday, and forecasters said it was likely to turn into a hurricane as its vortex moves northwest along the coast.
The eye of the meteor was about 525 kilometers (325 miles) south-southeast of the port of Manzanillo early Friday and was heading west-northwest at 15 km / h (9 mph).
The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Enrique had maximum sustained winds of 65 km / h (40 mph) and could reach hurricane strength over the weekend.
While the storm was expected to remain offshore, forecasters said it could bring heavy rain and flooding to parts of western Mexico.
