As Elsa continues to move north, a hurricane watch has been issued for the center-west and the coast of Big Bend of Florida from Egmont Key to the Steinhatchee River, however, the NHC has not released any projections of Elsa’s possible growth to a hurricane, a category it had briefly last week. Although, Elsa is expected to gain some strength in the next 36 hours. Conditions for strengthening are present, but marginal at best, the NHC said. Dry air and westerly wind shear should prevent Elsa from rapidly escalating into a hurricane, the NHC said.
