Early this Saturday the category 1 hurricane ‘Beatriz‘ was demoted to tormenta tropical; however, it maintains its displacement very close to the Jalisco coast, predicted the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
The ‘Beatriz’ cloud bands will extend to the west of the national territory, promoting intense punctual rains in Nayarit, Jalisco and Colimain addition to winds with gusts of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour (km/h) and high waves of 1 to 4 meters high on the coasts of the mentioned states.
The SMN warned that the rains could cause an increase in the levels of rivers and streams, as well as landslides and flooding in lower parts of the affected region.
Likewise, the circulation of “Beatriz” will maintain a strong entry of humidity from the Pacific Ocean, reinforcing the conditions for the occurrence of punctual intense rains in Michoacán and Guerrero, according to a report from the SMN.
The SMN recommended to the population and maritime navigation that is in the affected states, take extreme precautions against rain, wind and waves, as well as address the recommendations issued by the authorities of the National Civil Protection System.
On the other hand, a low pressure channel extended from the Mesa del Norte to the Mesa Central will generate very heavy punctual rains in areas of Chihuahua and Zacatecas, and heavy punctual rains in Coahuila, Guanajuato, Querétaro, State of Mexico, Morelos and Puebla.
In the southeast of the country and the Yucatan Peninsula, a channel of low pressure and the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, will cause very heavy rains in Oaxaca and Chiapas, and showers in said peninsula. Finally, the hot to very hot environment will remain in the northwest, north, and northeast states of the Mexican Republic.
