Tropical Depression becomes Storm Pilar and will affect Guatemala with rain

For this Monday and Tuesday, October 30 and 31, rain is expected to increase due to the approach of Tropical Storm Pilar, which is in the Pacific, although it will not impact Guatemala. However, it is approaching the coasts of El Salvador and Nicaragua.

The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED) issued recommendations 27 and 28 for the authorities and for citizens in general, derived from the displacement of Tropical Storm Pilar.

The rains of the last few hours have caused six rivers to flood, according to the Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (INSIVUMEH). Rain or drizzle is expected to continue in several regions of the national territory, as well as cloudy skies and entry of humidity, among others.

The INSIVUMEH also monitors a cold front and a high pressure system, which will increase the speed of the north wind starting this Monday.

In addition, it points out that the greatest amount of rain will fall on the Pacific, Bocacosta, Western, Central Altitplano, Northern Transversal Strip and Caribbean regions, although rain is not ruled out in the rest of the territory.
