Tropical Cyclone ‘Francine’ grows: trajectory and states it will affect

For this reason, personnel from Conagua, as well as from the Navy, shared a series of recommendations, they also detailed the effects that this cyclone would bring due to its passage in the Gulf of Mexico. Through a press conference held this Sunday, September 8, the states in the northeast, east and southeast of Mexico will be affected in the coming days.

The first thing the authorities ruled out is that will not touch landmeaning it will not directly impact Mexico. According to the monitoring currently in progress, the tropical cyclone is on a trajectory parallel to the country’s coasts.

However, even though it will not directly impact the country, it will have an impact on nearby states. In a press conference, Conagua staff warned that only moderate to intense rains are expected.

At 18:00 hours on October 8, the cyclone was located 275 km east northeast of Cabo Rojo in Veracruz and 510 km south southeast of the mouth of the Rio Bravo on the border with the United States. At this time it has winds of 85 kilometers per hour and streaks of 95 km/h.

According to the monitoring that Conagua is doing on this tropical cyclone number six, it is moving northwest at 7 km per hour. Meanwhile, Cold Front Number 1 is located off the coast of Tamaulipas and northern Veracruz.

This meteorological condition in the Gulf of Mexico intensified the low pressure until it became a tropical cyclone. The cloud load of both phenomena is generating situations of cloudy skies and rain, a situation that is being reflected in the states of Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Veracruz, Puebla, Tlaxcala and more.

According to Conagua, the path of tropical cyclone number six in the Gulf of Mexico will generate rainfall of September 8-10 in the following states:

  • San Luis Potosi
  • Hidalgo
  • Puebla
  • Tlaxcala
  • Campeche
  • Yucatan
  • Quintana Roo
